Job Description:

We have very unique opportunity for a mid-level Solaris Administrator (3-4 years experience) to assist in upgrading our customer’s Solaris and Linux environment.  Currently, there are approximately 300 Solaris machines and 20 RedHat (RHEL 3 & 4) Linux boxes.  The Solaris machines will be upgraded to versions 9 & 10.  This person will be primarily focused on upgrading these systems and will need to be flexible on hours (some day, and some night due to Service Level Agreements - schedule flexibility is important to allow off-hour updates).  Knowledge of connecting to SANs is important as well (NetApp and Hitachi).  The team works very closely and is targeted on looking for someone with not just the technical skills, but also the personality/team attitude to go with it.

The opportunity allows for someone to get exposure to an enterprise UNIX environment.  This person will need to work independently, but will have assistance to help guide and mentor them throughout the process.  The initial project is 5 months, but likelihood for extension and potentially conversion to full-time down the road.  There is plenty of work in queue beyond the initial project, and this person will likely be able to work on other aspects of administration down the road.  The customer desires to bring someone in on this project and help groom and mentor them into the team long term.  The current budget only allows through the end of the year on paper, but again, very likely chance of extension beyond that.  The manager is outstanding and has a great personality, along with the rest of the team.
